Ancient cultures have always believed that the olive tree was a source of strength and healing. What the ancients did not know was that the olive tree which contains Squalene was the reason.

Ancient fishermen from the Suruga Bay of the Izu Peninsula in Japan regularly drank an extract from the livers of deep sea sharks. They called the substance "samedawa" or "cure all". This extract is one of the richest sources of Squalene.

The Honzokomoku (dates back to 1368) is a 52 volume compendium of some 2,000 herbs and substances which was prepared by Lee Ji Chin, a respected healer in the Ming Dynasty. It identifies shark liver oil (which is rich in Squalene) as an important source of health and longevity.

The Greeks called it "amarantus" which meant "never withering". In India, the Sanskrit word for this plant was "amarnath" which meant "king of immortality". Swedish royalty recognized the strong and powerful by bestowing wreathes made of this plant. The amaranth is a robust plant that contains small amounts of Squalene.
